I used a 3 point perspective rule to create the view in the background for Absolute Uncertainty.
The animation that illustrates how 3 point perspective works in action has been a teaching tool for people which is a lot of fun to get emails from.
The 3 point perspective was just a part of the process of Absolute Uncertainty. It took over one year to draw and fill in exactly what I wanted to put on to this piece. You can view the history of this piece in the sub navigation. I wanted to bring the viewer not just in but back as well. the simple shading on the shapes that bring out the face gives its own perspective so in essence, we have a multi-dimensional relationship.
The surface was textured and then sanded down to a smooth surface that allowed the pencil and the pastels to really be effective. I combined 4 main elements oil, pastel, colored pencil & mixed media to create Absolute Uncertainty.
What took the most time was the blocks that are penciled in and then colored. This took a lot of concentration and planning as well as a unique apparatus that I put together in order to make the lines perfect.
I had no idea what this painting titled Absolute Uncertainty was going to look like when I started and I had to be very careful when I was making design and material decisions.
