 Fallen City

Fallen City

Fallen City was created as an exercise in using a gray scale hues only. The trick of this exercise was having to create the black hue using the primary colors, red, blue and yellow. It was a pretty difficult task at first and ultimately I realized that i should make larger batches of paint so I would not have to keeping making the black.

During the creation of the black hue the question is whether is it really black or does it have too much of one primary color. To find this out I put a little white in the mixed paint. It would take a while to balance out the color but i eventually got it.

The painting, Fallen City was my reaction to the riots that happened in Los Angeles after the O. J. Simpson trial.
