Leathered Heart is a piece that is very hard to photograph and a lot of the painting is lost. However, if you will imagine a piece of brown leather with a red heart stained on it, you've got a good idea of what it looks like. The work was done on canvas with the aid of my multimedia mix.
I was earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The first six paintings in this navigation were created one right after the other one or at the same time. I had built 6 canvases and they were ready to at the same time. I was very unhappily married at the time and was expressing myself. Now I'm not married, working away, painting, and am really enjoying life. The style seems to stay the same no matter of the condition of my relations.
I've noticed as well that I paint the hearts in groups. I'll work on 4 or so at the same time or one right after each other. It becomes a story. The series has matching creative energy connections in the artwork that unifies them.
I enjoy hearing other people's reactions to them. One lady told me that the artwork fed her soul.
