Many of my paintings reflect adoption. I was adopted after spending about 6 -8 months in a foster home in Texas. My name at birth was Troy Donald Johnston. Being adopted has influenced my life and especially my artwork. I find that may of my cubism art works do reflect my adoption.
This painting, Adoption, is an interesting piece that once completed became very powerful to me. It symbolizes sensations, feelings and a self abandonment. To adopt a child is a wonderful thing. I have a wonderful family that although I live a few thousand miles away, I keep in contact with them about every week. My sister is also adopted and we have shared those feelings and thoughts.
My artwork is expressive of my life, past and future. I would like to encourage you to take the links to the large image view and the two close up views I've provided and read more about this painting of adoption.
