This painting has a number of layers of varnish on it which adds a very weird look to this piece. This photo is deceiving. It looks smooth, but it isn't.
I enjoy this piece very much for a few reasons. One, I love using purple. It is a very tricky color to use. Too much of it can overwhelm the piece. I like this combination of color. The forms that came after the fact were fun to create just enough for the eye to grasp for a second and suggest forms that they might remember from something. Let your eye do the rest.
