It is July of 2004 and my creative path has found a new direction to explore. Encaustic Painting - a paint made from pigment mixed with melted beeswax and resin and after application fixed by heat. In similar terms, I mix powdered paint with hot melted bees wax that I safely combine in a double boiler with a camping stove for the flame. Right now I am using an 8 cup biscuit pan to mix colors, blue, red, green, yellow and dark yellow and something that was supposed to be white. The bees wax itself came from the sister in law of my girlfriend Marlene, at the time, who has bees and had some wax. She mailed it down to us in California and had everything I needed. |
