This drawing was quite a struggle. I don't think I was ready to draw yet when I started this piece. I concentrated on one small area before expanding out. Usually I lay down color all over the paper to help me keep a balance and to see what smudges where to see if I like the effect. I began to bring the piece together with some old familiar forms that I use when I get stuck and it helped it move along a little quicker. I believe that I wasn't happy with using the color orange either. I couldn't get it darker where I wanted to and it seemed to limit some of my skills of being able to push things back and pull things forward.

I haven't looked at this drawing since it was in an art show at Gallery 57 in Fullerton, California many years ago. I know where it is though. I framed this for the show and then neatly wrapped it in newspaper and put it in with so many other pieces of work that I haven't seen in years.
