These expressive cubism pieces are often painted with my hands instead of a paint brush. I like to get into this work and make textures happen. These are more of a physical response. I've moved to Tucson, Arizona and am very inspired here.
The painting to the left is an example of physical cubism. Grey Cubism, the title, started with simple lines drawn on a canvas. It was going to me my job to make the spaces between the lines look good. Because I could feel this cubism painting exploding out of me I stuck with a gray scale pallet in order not to confuse the concept with color. I started painting using my fingers and palms and liked the effect that the paint was having on the smooth surfaced canvas. It began to look like brushed steel and that was going to work great for this painting.
Cubism is healthy art for me. It is a way of containing thoughts into each shape and organizing the things I have on my mind. Out of all the galleries in this book this style, cubism comes out the fastest.
New! I've added a comment box for each painting and I welcome your thoughts, critiques, expressions and comments.
